BRRRRRRRRRR!

It's been a while since out last voyage around the island, so since it wasn't raining, we decided to kayak another section of our quest. Is it possible to be sweating while getting frost bite? We were going against the tide and against the wind, which made for a good work out. However, it made the frost bite on our toes less noticeable so that when we were done, we could barely walk back to the cars. It literally took 2 hours before my toes and bottoms of my feet stopped tingling - and that's after a HOT shower, wriggling my toes, wool socks, and walking around. Next time, I'm definitely putting hand warmers in my boots.

Superman!

We were asked to chaperone the youth stake dance and they said we could dress up like superheros. Did you think for a second that I would actually say no to dressing up or dancing? Put them together and that's living! One might say that we went a bit over the top, but I totally disagree - you can never be too dressed up!

Izaac's prayer

Izaac's new prayer lately is, "bless the bad guys to get lost and bless the good robots but not the bad ones and bless the bad guys to die". We've tried to redirect the dying comment, but we're OK with the bad guys getting lost.

Who has the coolest parents in the world?

I'd have to say that I have the coolest parents in the whole world! Who else has parents who shove Bugles into their mouths to pose as vampires for entertaining the kids? Don't tell them I told you this, but they do this even when the grandkids aren't around :)

Semi-Annual GNO (Girls Night Out)

I'm positive that by now the staff at Olive Garden fear when the group of us walk in. We get there as early as allowable with family responsibilities, and won't leave until they have gone through the polite 'can I get you guys anything else routine' about 7 times. Finally, when they outright ask us to leave, we start wrapping things up. Definitely one of the highlights of my trips home.

Don't Ask

"Hey Mare, Let's take pictures of us flying through the front room. It will be fun. Kids, stay downstairs and out of the way, the mommy's are busy!" So, we did, and talk about comedy of errors!

I would NEVER.....

I would NEVER! OK, so I might. Somebody has to teach my nieces and nephews how to properly toilet paper someone's house. Unfortunately, they didn't quite grasp the concept because they wanted to toilet paper Grandma and Grandpa's house too, which is where we were having our sleep over party. Needless to say, we all ended up cleaning up our own mess the next morning. Where's the fun in that? Chandler came prepared for the night of mischief packing as much toilet paper as he could into his duffle bag. We had such a good time. I love being an aunt to such cool nieces and nephews. Hmmmm, what can I teach them on my next visit home?

Time Traveler

OK, so I'm trying to relive my past. What I meant to say was 9/9/2009 smarty pants!

9 9 1999

I have a weird obsession with dates. So, on 9/9/99 at 9, a bunch of us met at Mora's - the best ice cream shop in the world to celebrate.

Friends and Bellydancers

We went to dinner for our friend Outi's birthday dinner and some crazy bellydancer showed up. We didn't really ask for the performance, but it happened none the less.

What???

Funny quote for the day. I was talking to my dad, trying to give him this blogspot address and we got on the topic of technology. Clearly, his deficiency of knowledge in technology shines through when he when he tells me, "people are writing things to me on the phone". Yeah, dad, it's called "texting".

Hey, look what I caught

Hey Grandma and Grandpa, check it out! We went hunting with some friends and this is what we caught. It took Izaac holding the snake before Jimmy dared to do it. He couldn't let a 4 year old out do him.

I jumped on the ceiling

When people ask Izaac how he got stitches, he says, "I jumped on the ceiling". Needless to say, we've gotten some fun looks and responses. We were at a friends house and Izaac stuck his head between the railing and the low ceiling and jumped. You know head wounds, they bleed like no other, but he was SOOOO brave and relatively calm - all things considered. He got 3 stitches and as you can tell, he was really traumatized by the whole ordeal.

Kayaking around Bainbridge Island

We decided it would be a fun adventure to kayak around Bainbridge Island - all 56 miles of it (and we thought it would be bragging rights worthy). It's been so fun to be able to see parts of the Island that we would have otherwise not been able to see - parts only accessible via kayak. We started in August and are about half way done. It was nice and sunny when we started and now it's starting to get chilly, but come rain or shine, we're going to finish. OK, so on the days that it's too rainy, we may reschedule. :) Enjoy through pictures what we REALLY get to enjoy! :)
